Drones Kill Fire Ants in Taiwan
Do you live near fire ants? Be careful! These ants are worse than other ants.
They bite! Then they sting! Three to seven times! OUCH! That hurts a lot!
你住的地方附近有紅火蟻嗎? 這種可怕的螞蟻會叮咬人三到七次，非常痛!
Farmers don't like fire ants. These ants eat everything. They eat fruit and
vegetables. They eat insects and small animals. And fire ants are hard to
kill.
農夫很討厭紅火蟻，因為牠們會把蔬菜水果類的農作物都吃掉，還會吃其他的昆蟲跟小動物，而且很難消滅。
These ants came to Taiwan about twenty years ago. Maybe they were in the mud
on the bottom of planes. Now there are many fire ants here.
可能是在二十多年前藏在飛機底部的泥土裡，被帶到台灣，現在台灣有好多!
But Taiwan is fighting fire ants. It uses ant food. It puts something that
kills ants in the food. Many times, people or trucks put this ant food on the
ground. But in some places, it's hard to do this.
政府努力對抗紅火蟻，把下了毒的螞蟻食物放在地上，但是只靠人來做這件事太困難了。
So Taiwan is using drones to kill fire ants. They put the same ant food on
the ground!
所以現在政府改用無人機來消滅紅火蟻，無人機可以很快把下毒的食物鋪滿地上。
The drones work very well. There are fewer fire ants! Phew!
