Taiwan Watches Bananas from Space
Bananas... yum! Guatemala and Belize, countries in Central America, grow
bananas. Taiwan grows bananas too. It knows a lot about bananas! It helps
these countries keep their banana plants healthy.
中美洲的貝里斯跟瓜地馬拉兩個國家，種的香蕉都很好吃。是台灣幫助他們維持香蕉樹的健康喔！
Taiwan watches these plants... from space! It can find sick banana plants.
台灣會從外太空觀察這些香蕉樹！有生病的樹就會馬上被看出來。
In sick plants, the leaves go from green to yellow. They get dark spots. Sick
plants can't grow good bananas.
生病的植物葉子會從綠色變成黃色，還會長出黑色的斑點。
But Taiwan doesn't look at the color from space. It looks at the light. When
sunlight goes down to leaves, some of the light goes back up. More light goes
back up from healthy leaves than sick leaves.
但是，台灣並不是從太空看葉子的顏色，而是觀察光線。陽光照在葉子上時，健康的葉子反射的光比生病的多。
From space, Taiwan can watch many banana plants. It watches banana plants in
Guatemala and Belize. It has been doing this for three years.
台灣已經做這項工作三年了，從太空可以一次觀察到超級多的香蕉樹。
It helps farmers find sick plants fast. Then farmers take the sick plants
away. This helps keep other plants healthy.
這個技術讓農夫可以很快發現生病的植物，才不會把疾病傳染給健康的香蕉樹。
Taiwan helps these countries grow healthy banana plants! Good job, Taiwan!
